About me
In the first post, I briefly mentioned why I think I’m a good person to write a blog like this, but if you’re interested in some more background, here you go.
First, my 30-second bio: After working at a global PR firm in a variety of capacities, I figured out that I was intrigued by the turmoil taking place throughout the media business and that I wanted to get in there somehow and see if I could help shape the future. (for more on my work experience, please visit my LinkedIn profile.)
After some research, I decided the best way I could do that was to get an MBA. So, after applying to eight schools all around the U.S., I chose USC Marshall and made my way out to Los Angeles.
As I mentioned, b-school was a transformative experience. The number of opportunities I had – academically, in the community, career-wise and socially – in such a short time, still amazes me. And I can I honestly say that I accomplished more in those two years than in any other five-year period in my life.
I took classes that interested me and filled in some significant gaps in my pre-MBA work experience. I grabbed onto to just about every interesting opportunity that came my way. I got involved in more activities and clubs than I can remember, but still managed to make meaningful contributions to the ones that meant the most to me. I was able to give back to the school and the larger community. I made some great friends. I had lots of fun. And I really grew as a person.
So, hopefully you now have some idea what I mean when I say that I “did b-school the right way.” And it’s my hope, through B-School Preschool, I can help pre-MBAs figure out how they can do b-school the right way – for them.
